About the Program
Pitkin County Land Management has Weed Sprayer Backpacks available for loan to the public. We require a $100 deposit that will be returned to the person borrowing the backpack when the pack is returned to us in good condition. To reserve or pick up a backpack, please come by our office at 76 Service Center Road across from the airport and near the RFTA bus barn or call us at 970-920-5390. Pick up times are on Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 5: p.m.; backpacks must be returned the following Monday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
We no longer sell chemicals for the sprayers, but these chemicals may be purchased from the Carbondale Co-Op or Country General in Glenwood Springs. Information on chemicals may be accessed over the Internet at Greenbook Data Solutions.
We also have packets available for free that lists noxious weeds and gives different treatment options as well as weed descriptions and information. The packets also include brochures that show pictures which help in weed identification.
If you wish to hire someone to do this work for you, contact local weed controllers or landscapers. Their numbers may be found in the yellow pages. We do not make recommendations in regard to private businesses that do this type of work.
Contact us here at Pitkin County Land Management if you have any other questions or problems.
