Juvenile Delinquency

Turning challenges into opportunities for positive change.

Supporting our youth is one of the most important responsibilities we share as a community. When young people make mistakes or find themselves in difficult circumstances, the goal of the juvenile justice system in Colorado is not just accountability, but also guidance, growth, and the opportunity to become productive and engaged members of society.

The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office plays a vital role in this process by working with the Office of the District Attorney, the Probation Department, the Juvenile Court, the Division of Youth Services, and local nonprofit partners. Together, we focus on solutions that balance public safety with compassion, aiming to help youth learn from their experiences while still protecting the well-being of our community.

Our approach is rooted in collaboration, support, and the belief that with the right resources and guidance, every young person has the potential to make positive changes and thrive.
