If you have a complaint about a restaurant regarding food safety of foodborne illness exposure contact CDPHE at: CDPHE_LAPonduty@state.co.us or call (303) 692-3645, option #1 for the retail food team.


If you do not receive a response from the state within 24 hours please let us know.

Food Handler Training


We now offer food handler training online, the class fee is $10 and takes about 90 minutes to complete.

Special Events


Temporary food service establishments at special events must be covered by a Pitkin County event vendor establishment license or other counties with reciprocity. Individuals (including sole proprietorships) seeking this license will need to comply with the state's requirements for establishing their lawful presence in the United States.

Special Event licenses and Event Coordinator Applications should be sent to CDPHE_LAPonduty@state.co.us at least 2 weeks prior to the event for review.
