Renewal stickers for your Colorado license plate can be done by mail, in person at the Clerk and Recorder's office or online..

With the upcoming holiday season and an increased volume of shipped items, you may experience a delay in the receipt of license plates, tabs, and registration renewal reminders.


Courtesy renewal notices are mailed out monthly reflecting

  • Total amount due
  • Whether you need to show proof of insurance

Use the renewal notice postcard (or address an envelope) and mail to:

What to Include

Include the following:

  • Payment
  • Renewal notice (this shows what vehicle the payment covers) or license plate number
  • Proof of insurance, if required. See "insurance" for acceptable proof


Wait Time for New Stickers

If you mailed in your payment, your new stickers and registration will be mailed to you in approximately a week after receipt of your payment.

Didn't Receive a Courtesy Renewal Notice?

Please note that if for some reason you do not receive the courtesy renewal notice, it is still your responsibility for the timely renewal of your registration.
