The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport will no longer enforce facial coverings/masks in the Airport Terminal, effective immediately. The Airport encourages anyone who is not fully vaccinated, feeling ill, or who is immunocompromised to use caution and consider facial coverings for their personal safety, and for the safety of others.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) issued the following statement yesterday, Monday, April 18, 2022:

“Due to today’s court ruling, effective immediately, TSA will no longer enforce its Security Directives and Emergency Amendment requiring mask use on public transportation and transportation hubs. TSA will also rescind the new Security Directives that were scheduled to take effect tomorrow. CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings at this time.”

The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport will continue to work with local and state health departments to ensure that all safety measures are followed, as needed, now and into the future. The Airport will continue to maintain on-going COVID cleaning protocols, and face mask will be provided to those individuals who want them. The Airport will continue to recommend vaccination to employees, to ask employees not to come to work if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, and to get tested immediately.

While passengers are no longer required to wear facial coverings in the Passenger Terminal, all passengers are encouraged to contact their respective airline to ascertain their air carrier’s specific facial covering requirements.

The CDC continues to recommend that people wear masks in indoor public transportation settings.
