ASPEN, COLO. (January 10, 2023) - Four incumbents and one newly elected official were sworn in on the steps of the Pitkin County Courthouse today. In November, voters re-elected District 1 County Commissioner Patti Clapper, District 2 County Commissioner Kelly McNicholas Kury, Clerk and Recorder Ingrid Grueter, and Assessor Deborah Bamesberger. In addition, voters elected Michael Buglione as Pitkin County’s new sheriff replacing Joe Disalvo who served as sheriff for 12 years.

Patti Clapper is sworn in to office on January 10, 2023.

In front of dozens of residents gathered on a sidewalk in front of the courthouse, Pitkin County Court Judge Ashley Andrews swore in each official as they raised their right hands and took the Oath of Office. One by one, the five elected officials repeated after Judge Andrews to support the U.S. Constitution, the Constitution and laws of the State of Colorado and the Charter of Pitkin County.

“This is the sixth time of having the honor and privilege to serve the people of Pitkin County,” said Pitkin County Commissioner Patti Clapper. “I appreciate how many members of the community gathered for this event and I’m excited for the work ahead in continuing to serve our residents.”

Ingrid Grueter is sworn in to office on January 10, 2023.

Each elected official will serve four-year terms. Term limits only apply to county commissioners who can serve a total of three consecutive four (4) year terms. Commissioner Kelly McNicolas Kury is stepping into her second term and Commissioner Patti Clapper is serving her third consecutive term, her sixth term after being term-limited in 2010 and then being reelected in 2014.

Thanks to all of the elected officials who choose to serve the public, whether taking office for the first time, resuming their role, or leaving office after years of service. All of these individuals have chosen to serve the community and the residents of Pitkin County.
