Pitkin County collaborates with City of Aspen, hospital on hiring effort

Aspen Local Living Guide, a recruitment collaboration involving Pitkin County

PITKIN COUNTY, COLO. (May 9, 2023) - Three large, established employers, Pitkin County, the City of Aspen, and Aspen Valley Hospital, have partnered to develop a new resource, The Aspen Local Living Guide, to make it easier for seasonal employees to find employment in Pitkin County.

The Aspen Local Living Guide launched April 24th on mountaincareers.com and is a web page designed to help locals navigate their way through the various places to work and how to tap into jobs that provide great benefits (housing, retirement, insurance and more) that make living in Pitkin County possible.

"Many locals are unaware that local government and hospitals offer such great career opportunities and the benefits you need to make life possible in the mountains. We want to uncover some of the resources to make it easier for more people to access," said Aryn Schlichting, Founder of Mountain Careers.

Collaboration from three of Aspen's top employers

The guide features videos from the City of Aspen, Aspen Valley Hospital and Pitkin County with detailed descriptions about what each employer has to offer.

  • Pitkin County offers a broad range of opportunities including positions in public safety, recreation and leisure services, transportation and infrastructure management, library services, health care and social services. Find employment opportunities on the county's website.
  • Aspen Valley Hospital is one of the largest employers in the city, the hospital employs over 1,500 people in a variety of positions, ranging from nurses and physicians to administrative staff.
  • The City of Aspen boasts an abundance of employment opportunities, with over 1,500 positions available across a range of professionals, from public safety and public works to administration and finance.
  • Mountain Careers is a regional job board, newsletter and network connecting over 20,000 professionals weekly and hundreds of employers.

‘If we can help even 5 people find a year-round job they will love, this is a success for the individuals and the community’, says Schlichting. Those looking to find more information about the Aspen Local Living Guide and the various job postings and career advice can visit mountaincareers.com/aspen-living-guide from April 24 - June 24.
