PCREDC’s passion and sacrifices noted in state recognition
Pitkin County, CO (December 5, 2024) - This week, the Pitkin County Regional Emergency Dispatch Center (PCREDC) earned two major honors from the Colorado Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials and the National Emergency Number Association (Colorado APCO/NENA): the 9-1-1 Communication Center of the Year Award and the Director/Manager of the Year Award, presented to Operations Manager Brad Flanagan.
Brett Loeb, PCREDC Emergency Communications Chief, commended the work of his team and the partnerships required within the organization. The dispatch team has been in a rebuilding phase over the last few years, and Loeb credits the achievement of a full staff to this state recognition.
The 9-1-1 Communication Center of the Year Award winners must demonstrate excellence in staffing, culture, technology integration, and forward-thinking initiatives. PCREDC was chosen because despite being a small center, it has consistently pushed the boundaries of what is possible for a rural PSAP, ensuring high levels of service, innovative use of technology, and a strong commitment to the well-being of its dispatchers.
“This accomplishment has been a long-term goal for us and is essential to delivering the high level of 9-1-1 dispatch services that the citizens of the Roaring Fork Valley and the first responders who serve them deserve,” Loeb said. “We could not perform at such a high level without our close partners and fellow First Responders at Aspen Fire, Aspen Ambulance, Aspen PD, Pitkin County Sheriff, Snowmass Village PD, Basalt PD, Roaring Fork Fire, and Carbondale Fire. We also appreciate and share this recognition with Pitkin County’s Telecommunications, Information Technology, Geographic Information Systems and Facilities staff.”
The Director/Manager of the Year Award recognizes an individual who demonstrates outstanding performance leading a communications center. Flanagan implemented advanced technologies like Formula One-inspired noise-canceling tech, GPS tools from the Department of Defense, and AI-driven phone systems. Under his leadership, the center shifted from near closure to being fully staffed in less than three years.

La pasión y sacrificios del PCREDC reconocidos a nivel estatal
Condado de Pitkin, CO (5 de diciembre, 2024) - Esta semana, el Centro Regional de Despacho de Emergencias del Condado de Pitkin (PCREDC, por sus siglas en inglés) recibió dos importantes honores de la Asociación de Funcionarios de Comunicaciones de Seguridad Pública de Colorado y la Asociación Nacional de Números de Emergencia (Colorado APCO/NENA): el Premio al Centro de Comunicación 9-1-1 del Año y el Premio al Director/Gerente del Año, presentado al Gerente de Operaciones Brad Flanagan.
Brett Loeb, Jefe de Comunicaciones de Emergencia del PCREDC, elogió el trabajo de su equipo y las asociaciones requeridas dentro de la organización. El equipo de despacho ha estado en una fase de reconstrucción en los últimos años, y Loeb atribuye el logro de tener un personal completo a este reconocimiento estatal.
Los ganadores del Premio al Centro de Comunicación 9-1-1 del Año deben demostrar excelencia en personal, cultura, integración tecnológica e iniciativas innovadoras. El PCREDC fue elegido porque, a pesar de ser un centro pequeño, ha empujado constantemente los límites de lo que es posible para un PSAP rural, asegurando altos niveles de servicio, uso innovador de la tecnología y un fuerte compromiso con el bienestar de sus despachadores.
“Este logro ha sido un objetivo a largo plazo para nosotros y es esencial para ofrecer el alto nivel de servicios de despacho 9-1-1 que los ciudadanos del Valle Roaring Fork y los primeros respondedores que les sirven merecen”, dijo Loeb. “No podríamos desempeñarnos a un nivel tan alto sin nuestros socios cercanos y compañeros primeros respondedores en Aspen Fire, Aspen Ambulance, Aspen PD, Pitkin County Sheriff, Snowmass Village PD, Basalt PD, Roaring Fork Fire y Carbondale Fire. También apreciamos y compartimos este reconocimiento con el personal de Telecomunicaciones, Tecnología de la Información, Sistemas de Información Geográfica e Instalaciones del Condado de Pitkin.”
El Premio al Director/Gerente del Año reconoce a una persona que demuestra un rendimiento excepcional liderando un centro de comunicaciones. Flanagan implementó tecnologías avanzadas como tecnología de cancelación de ruido inspirada en la Fórmula Uno, herramientas GPS del Departamento de Defensa y sistemas telefónicos impulsados por IA. Bajo su liderazgo, el centro pasó de estar cerca del cierre a estar completamente dotado de personal en menos de tres años.
