Pitkin County, CO (June 4, 2025) - Harvest for Hunger, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing food waste and combating hunger in the Roaring Fork Valley, is pleased to announce the grand opening of its new food distribution center located at the Michael W. Schultz Health and Human Services Building in Aspen. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM.
This new facility represents a significant expansion of Harvest for Hunger’s mission to provide accessible, stigma-free food assistance to individuals and families in need. By partnering with local food retailers, hotels, and restaurants, the organization rescues surplus food and redistributes it to the community, thereby reducing food waste and addressing food insecurity.
“Our goal is to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry, and this facility brings us one step closer to that vision,” said Gray Warr, Executive Director of Harvest for Hunger
“This pantry reflects Pitkin County’s commitment to dignity, accessibility, and community wellbeing,” said Sam Landercasper, Deputy Director of Pitkin County Human Services. “We’re proud to offer a resource where residents can get the help they need without judgment or delay.”
“We’ve seen firsthand how stigma-free access makes a measurable impact,” added Warr. “By meeting people where they are, we empower families to thrive rather than just survive.”
The new center will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing a welcoming environment where individuals can access nutritious food without judgment or the need to provide personal information.
Harvest for Hunger invites community members, partners, and supporters to join the ribbon-cutting ceremony and tour the new facility. Light refreshments will be served, and attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the organization’s programs and volunteer opportunities.

Condado de Pitkin, CO (4 de junio, 2025) – Harvest for Hunger, una organización sin fines de lucro dedicada a reducir el desperdicio de alimentos y combatir el hambre en el Valle de Roaring Fork, se complace en anunciar la gran inauguración de su nuevo centro de distribución de alimentos ubicado en el edificio de Salud y Servicios Humanos Michael W. Schultz en Aspen. La ceremonia de apertura se llevará a cabo el lunes 9 de junio de 2025 a las 10:00 a.m.
Esta nueva instalación representa una expansión significativa de la misión de Harvest for Hunger de proporcionar asistencia alimentaria accesible y libre de estigmas a personas y familias que lo necesitan. Al asociarse con comercios locales, hoteles y restaurantes, la organización rescata alimentos excedentes y los redistribuye a la comunidad, reduciendo así el desperdicio de alimentos y enfrentando la inseguridad alimentaria.
“Nuestro objetivo es asegurarnos de que nadie en nuestra comunidad pase hambre, y esta instalación nos acerca un paso más a esa visión,” dijo Gray Warr, Director Ejecutivo de Harvest for Hunger.
“Esta despensa refleja el compromiso del Condado de Pitkin con la dignidad, la accesibilidad y el bienestar comunitario,” dijo Sam Landercasper, Subdirector de Servicios Humanos del Condado de Pitkin. “Nos enorgullece ofrecer un recurso donde los residentes puedan recibir la ayuda que necesitan sin juicio ni demoras.”

El nuevo centro operará de lunes a viernes, de 8:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m., brindando un ambiente acogedor donde las personas pueden acceder a alimentos nutritivos sin juicio ni la necesidad de proporcionar información personal.
Harvest for Hunger invita a los miembros de la comunidad, socios y simpatizantes a asistir a la ceremonia de apertura y recorrer las nuevas instalaciones. Se ofrecerán refrigerios ligeros y los asistentes tendrán la oportunidad de conocer más sobre los programas de la organización y las oportunidades de voluntariado.
