ASE-PIT-AIR-logo-with-web (3)

Aspen / Pitkin County Airport will conduct a mass casualty and emergency response drill on Friday, September 14th, 2018.  It is an FAA requirement that all commercial service airports conduct tabletop emergency drills annually with the third year being full-scale with live participation.

This drill serves to test the airport’s skill, equipment, readiness, integration of local aid agencies, and overall function of incident command and control.  Participating agencies will include:  Aspen Airport Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting, Aspen and Snowmass Wildcat Fire Departments, Aspen Ambulance, Pitkin County Sheriff, FAA Air Traffic Control, and many more.

The Airport needs 65 volunteers to simulate crash victims on the day of the event.  Anyone interested is encouraged to contact the airport regarding time and physical requirements.  Participants can expect to spend much of their time in the sun; staged on the ground while wearing special effects make-up.  Volunteers will act-out their assigned injuries for emergency responders to treat.
