[ARCHIVED] Senior Service Suspending All Group Operations

Under the direction of Pitkin County Public Health and the County Manager’s Office, Senior Service is suspending all programmatic group operations, starting Thursday, March 13th. Including: congregate meals, transportation, and all fitness/social programs.

The Senior Center will remain open but closed to all group activities and programs, members of the public or regular participants are encouraged to call the main number, (970) 920-5432 8am-5:00pm M-F for assistance and questions.

Home Delivered Meals will continue to operate and be offered to current participants, along with any participants of the meal program held at the senior center.

Staff will stay engaged and communicate, via phone, text, social media, etc., with current participants of all programs and services including; meals, transportation, and all fitness/social programs, in order to maintain communication and to assess any needs participants may have.

Older adults are at the highest risk for complications related to the coronavirus, so we are limiting group gatherings for the safety and wellbeing of those we serve.  For more information regarding Senior Services, please call 970-920-5432. Thank you all so much for your understanding and patience. Status will be evaluated on a week to week basis.

Concerned that you might have symptoms of Corovnavirus (COVID-19)? Call the Pitkin County Community Coronavirus Hotline at (970) 429-6186 

People who are symptomatic AND have traveled to affected areas or have been in contact with a known patient can call the CDPHE general epidemiology hotline # 303-692-2700. This line is staffed seven days a week at from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

Please share this information with the older adult population, stay tuned to more emails and phone calls, and remember.... wash your hands, cover coughs, and stay home if you are ill!
