The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport will be conducting controlled Live Burn Training June 22-26th, 2020. As a Federal Aviation Administration requirement, Aspen Airport’s Sardy Field Fire Department (SFFD) is required to conduct Live Burn training on an annual basis for all Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighters (ARFF).

This year’s training will take place utilizing a mobile aircraft training prop onsite. Mutual Aid partners including Aspen Fire Protection District, Roaring Fork Fire Rescue, and Carbondale Rural Fire Protection District will be participating in training burns.  These simulated trainings allow for Firefighters to train in realistic conditions in an aircraft fuselage prop. This dynamic training will focus on Airport and Mutual Aid responses to Airport Incidents.
