Aspen/Pitkin County Airport – The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport is expecting a low-approach flyover of six C-130 aircraft today rather than Tuesday, as previously announced. The flyover, in formations of three aircraft, is part of military training.
The C-130 Hercules is a 4-engine turboprop military transport aircraft and is primarily used in airlift missions for the U.S. Air Force. The first low approach is expected between the hours of 10:00 am and 1:30 pm and the second should occur between 2:30 and 5:30 pm. The aircraft will be under Air Traffic Control at all times and will not be landing.
