PITKIN COUNTY TO HOST ASE AVIATION DIRECTOR FINALIST INTERVIEWS

Aspen, Colorado – Pitkin County and the Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (ASE) will host finalists for the Aviation Director on March 18 and 19, 2021.

In November 2020, Pitkin County engaged ACS Firm, a nationwide human capital firm with expertise and success in airport management recruitments to assist the County in its search for an Aviation Director. After a nationwide search and industry-specific advertising campaign, the County has narrowed the search and have invited two industry professionals to Aspen for final round interviews. During the two-day process, the finalists Daniel Bartholomew and Diane Jackson will interview with a variety of County and Airport staff, Board of County Commissioners, airport constituents and the ASE Visioning Committee. This process will largely take place virtually due to the current COVID-19 safety protocols, with the candidates on-site to meet with the internal team and key stakeholders.

Daniel Bartholomew earned a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning, a Master of Business Administration and the certification of AICP from the American Planning Association as well as achieving the status of Accredited Airport Executive from the American Association of Airport Executives. His experiences span the US with his current role as Principal with Airport Solutions based out of Oregon. He retired from the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority where he served as Vice President of Planning, Engineering and Environmental Management. His prior experience encompasses the Fort Lauderdale International Airport, the City of Aurora, Colorado, Coffman Associates and various colleges and universities where he has held the titles of Adjunct Instructor.

Diane Jackson earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of North Dakota and achieved the status of Certified Member and Airport Certified Employee – Operations with the American Association of Airport Executives. Her recent experience includes time as the Director of Communications with the Naples Airport Authority in Naples, FL and a 17-year career with the Tweed New Haven Airport/AvPORTS in New Haven, CT in various roles including Operations, Airport Planning Manager, Assistant Manager and Airport Manager.

Throughout 2019 and early 2020, Pitkin County led a comprehensive community engagement process to help establish a vision for the future of Pitkin County-Aspen Airport. The purpose of the ASE Vision process was to advise the BOCC on how the Pitkin County-Aspen Airport should be modernized to accommodate the community’s air service needs and reflect changes in the air service industry, while also remaining true to the character and values of the community.
