Aspen, CO – At 3:45 PM Sunday, a small private jet aircraft left the runway at the Aspen Pitkin County Airport. Three passengers and two crew members were aboard the HondaJet – no one was injured and there was no visible damage to the aircraft. The jet was landing from the south and overran the runway to the north. The incident is under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
The airport is closed temporarily as airport officials await clearance from the FAA and NTSB to move the aircraft. Airport officials anticipate the airport will reopen later today (Sunday, June 26). Passengers should check with their airlines on their flight status.
