On July 2, Pitkin County Assistant Community Development Director Suzanne Wolff was named Interim Community Development Director. Her appointment follows the retirement at the end of June of Cindy Houben, the county’s long-time Community Development Director. The county is in the process of recruiting for the position.
Suzanne Wolff has worked in the county’s Community Development department for 30 years. She became Assistant Community Development Director in May, 2016. Wolff’s leadership ensures a level of continuity for both the department and the community.
Cindy Houben is continuing to work for the county on a contract-basis and in a part-time capacity to support the Board of County Commissioners’ directive to form a Community Growth Advisory Committee and address potential changes to the Land Use Code to meet the county’s climate goals. Houben is also continuing to support the transition of the department.
