Citizen Grant Review Committee

Meetings

The board meets August - December each year to review grant applications.  Specific dates and times are set as needed.

About the Board

This volunteer citizen board, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, reviews all grant requests. The mission of the Citizen Grant Review Committee (CGRC) is to make recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners that reflect the intention of the November 2018 ballot question, which created a special health and human services and community non-profit fund with property tax dollars. The CGRC evaluates each non-profit grant request in terms of demonstrated financial need, fiscal viability and adherence to the goals and values of Pitkin County. The CGRC makes recommendations to the Board of County Commissioners so that the county contributions from the Healthy Community Fund are purposeful, prudent and effective.

To serve on the Citizen Grant Review Committee (CGRC), a member must:

·       be a resident of Pitkin County for a minimum of three years prior to appointment,

·       be a qualified elector of the county if of voting age,

·       hold no other county or municipal office,

·       not be employed by a municipality or county,

·       not sit on any board as director of any non-profit applying for funding, and

·       serve without pay

The CGRC is busiest from mid August through September.  Members score grant requests and have approximately a month or so to read and score all applications.

There is a concentrated time in late September or early October when the committee meets for 3 to 4 consecutive nights to review grant requests and develop group funding recommendations as a team.
